5:00 PM  –  5:45 PM

“Agents of their Own Emancipation” is a specialty tour to precede the lecture by scholar Dr. Ximena Abello Hurtado of the same name.  This tour will focus on the experiences of free and enslaved Black people in the 19th century. We will highlight the voices of Frederick Douglass, Harriet Jacobs, and Booker T. Washington, as we work to conceptualize the world in which Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
